Conferences and IBC Global Conferences would like to extend a very sincere
thanks to all participants for the outstanding success of the “THE KAZAKHSTAN
GROWTH FORUM”, which took place on 27th - 29th June, 2007
in Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel in London. 500+ attendees
gathered over the 3 days of the Forum to exchange experiences, gather new
information and take advantage of unique networking opportunities. They represented the
top Kazakh companies and key present and potential investors in Kazakhstan from
more than 20+ countries, including: UK, Germany, France, Belgium,
Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Cyprus, Bahrain, Finland, Sweden, Norway,
Czech Republic, Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, USA and more. The conference discussed and analysed the economic, social and
political situation in Kazakhstan, as well as reviewing the investment climate
and legislation issues. It offered in-depth analysis of all major industry
sectors including: Finance; Construction & Real Estate; Oil & Gas;
Energy; Metals & Mining; Infrastructure & Transport; Telecommunications
& IT. One of the important topics discussed at the Forum was the
diversification of the country’s economy and the prospects for the development
of non-energy sectors. The Forum was opened on June 27 with welcoming
speeches by the
Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Vladimir
Shkolnik, the President of the EBRD
Jean Lemierre, and the Chairman of British-Kazakh Society Lord Fraser of Carmyllie QC. Jean Lemierre announced EBRD’s $42 million loan facility that it is
providing to Karcement JSC in Karaganda. In the plenary session, keynote
presentations were delivered by the Minister of Finance Natalya Korzhova and the Minister of Industry & Trade Galym Orazbakov. The plenary session on the second day featured presentations by the

Karabalin,
Deputy Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources Bolat Akchulakov and Deputy Minister of Industry & Trade
& Special Representative for Kazakhstan to WTO Accession Zhanar
Aitzhanova. The third day was opened by HE The Ambassador of
Kazakhstan in the UK Erlan Idrissov, who was joined by the Lord Mayor of the City of
London Alderman John Stuttard, who
referred to his recent visits to Kazakhstan. During the day, participants received
a comprehensive overview of the main trends in Kazakhstan’s financial system
from the Deputy Chairman of the Financial Supervision
Agency of Kazakhstan Gani Uzbekov and
Chairman of the Regional Financial Centre of Almaty (RFCA) Arken Arystanov. Insights on IPOs of Kazakh companies were provided by the Director
for EMEA at London Stock Exchange Jon
